Question: why does my 2000 1.4polo classic cout out when i stop at the traffic lights

also after driving for a few miles and stop iget it hard to start again but ie i wait foe 10 to15 minuites it will start easy

    1.8 or 2.0L gas OR 1.9L diesel? More specific details help. Cold start good? Out on road runs good? Manual or auto trans? Any roughness for a few seconds when it finally does start after sitting? Are you hitting the throttle at all when cranking?
