Any work done on truck lately? After it shifts, does it go back into lower gear often with little throttle movement?

I phrased the question incorrectly. 1st shifts into 2nd with no problem.2nd will wind to 3500. As soon as I let off the gas it will shift.

Recommend having it scanned for trans trouble codes , may be a bad pressure switch or solenoid.Would be a lot less expensive then a trans rebuild.

My concern is if I take it to a shop will they give me an honest assesment or go for the kill and tell me I need a new tranny

EVERYONE IS NOT OUT TO TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE ON AUTO REPAIR. CAN ALWAYS GET ANOTHER OPNION. BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR SCAN TEST AT EACH SHOP. JUST CAN'T GUESS ANYMORE IT COST TO MUCH TO INSTALL PARTS YOU DON'T NEED. IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE YOU NEED A NEW TRANS. BUT YOU HAVE TO TRUST THE REPAIR PEOPLE.
