When my car is off I unlock my door and jump in to grab something and shortly after I shut the door the car beeps and the door locks as if I hit the lock button on my keys. This also happens on my moms 2002 Volkswagen Golf. What can I do to stop this from happening? One of these days it's going to happen with my keys in the car!!!!!
Why do the doors on my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta lock by themselves when car is off? on 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

Maybe check the owners manual if you have one. Most vehicles have instructions in there for you to set the lock pattern to your preference.

I didn't see it in there.
I have different scan tools for different vehicle lines, and most of them have special functions section to reset the controls for the driver. I can research Mitchel to see if anything is in there. There was nothing on the door locks, the closest was windows.

Never did like a car that locked the doors on it's own! IF i want the dooes locked, i will lock them myself! More trouble than it's worth.

Roll the window down or dont leave the keys just lying in the car. It wont lock the drivers door IF the keys are IN the ignition switch. The dealer may be able to bypass this. My Toyota will lock itself back IF no doors are opened, after unlocking with the fob, in about 10 seconds. If any door is opened before that time passes, it stays unlocked.
