1999 Mercury Villager Question: why am I not getting spark through the plugs?

van was running fine turned it off then went to start it and it chugged and died wouldnt start for another 2 hrs and when it started it chugged like it wasn't getting gas then died again..checked fuel pump changed filter put new crank censor new plugs and wires among other parts .. ..my husband turn distributor then it sounded out of time back firing..his friend came and lined distributor back up turns over but now no spark through the plugs they cant figure it out..so aggravated been without van for a month now

    IF THE TIMING BELT IS OK AND YOU ARE SURE THERE IS NO SPARK, then the distributor 'assembly' is the next most likely suspect on this NISSAN engines ignition system!!! Have a lot of problems with them.

    so I need a new distributor? where can I get one without paying 300.00 its a 3.3

    I dont know, maybe a salvage yard. Nissan 3.3 is the same! Pathfinder/Pickup. I m just saying what i have had problems with on this system!

    ty I wished I never sold my mercury marque never had no problems with it,,Ive had this van 5 months and will never get 1 like it again
