car was cooling,then stop,then sometime later would start cooling. had it checked by a mechanic. scanned with hand held computer. saying car is 40 degrees inside, causing a/c not to work.

The interior of the car is 40 degrees? or the engine temp sensor is reading -40 degrees?

Something telling compressor that inside cabin is 40 degrees...I'm guessing in-car temp sensor. Want to be sure
