1997 Ford Windstar - 3.0L V6 145,000 mi,
white smoke was blowing out the muffler, my mechanic diagnoised it as a blown head gasket. It cost me $2200 to reapir it.

Heavy smoke coming from muffler. The whole van smelled like smoke. No engine light on. Just purchase the van 2 days ago
I had the same problem twice.It was fixed before we left N.D,cost us 700.00,then we get to FL,and it craps out,we let it go for a while,then got it fixed the end of march this year,now were in CA,and from what they tell us its the ignition coil this time,but other then that,a great van,made it to two states in less then four years!

White smoke out of tailpipe, check engine light always on. Sometimes it would flash upon starting up. ANd I was going thru engine coolant like twice a week filling up the overflow container. Blown head gasket $1,000 later. UGH!
1998 Ford Windstar - 3.8L V6 155,000 mi,
mine was doing the smokin. thought it was head gasket. ended up being intake manifold gasket. all ok after repair. At 189000 now
