whining noise in engine water pump was leaking. replaced pump noise got louder on 2001 Saturn L200

after two pumps replaced noise still there timing chain has been replaced earlier by someone else sprockets were not changed and oil tensioner was not changed.

REMOVE DRIVE BELT THEN START THE ENG. TO SEE IF NOISE IS STILL THERE.

THAT MEANS YOU NEED TO GO DEEPER INSIDE OF THE ENGINE TO FIND THE TROUBLE IF IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS UP FRONT. BEST TO REPLACE ALL TIMING COMPONETS AT THE SAME TIME! THAT'S MY OPINION.

if the tensioner and sprockets was not changed when the chain was replased would that cause a whining noise coming from timing cover

GET ANOTHER OPNION FROM ANOTHER MECHAINC. TWO HEADS BETTER THAN ONE ANY DAY. GOOD LUCK. ALL TIMING COMPONETS INCLU. BALANCE SHAFT KIT ALSO!

poss idler pulley or tensioner assm. i rec u change both due to age
