2006 Mercury Milan

Question: while trying to maintain speed, I hear a rattling noise in the engine bay.

seems more prominent at 50 mph. accelerate and it stops, let off the gas and it also stops.

    It could be many things, unfortunately and without hearing the noise first hand or being able to do some basic diagnostic tests or be able to drive the car, its hard to say what the source of the noise may be. It could be an exhaust heat shield or something that is resonating at a certain RPM.
