Maintenance required lights are an oil change light (as long as it's yellow). The shop may have just forgot to reset it. It happens. Take it back and have them double check it or...

Reset the system by the following procedure:
Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown.
Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while holding down the trip meter reset knob. Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds. Dashes will bling and slowly count down off the odometer display. Wait until the odometer indicates "000000" and the light goes off. Now you can release the trip meter reset knob.

If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.

What will happen after the odometer turns to 00000000. Will the initial reading appear again?

It will most likely go back to the odometer #'s. Release the reset knob and start vehicle. If it's off - ok. If it's not it's not an oil change light and should be looked at by the shop.
