there are a few items to check, seeing that you know the fuel pump is working I would then check to see if the engine has spark, this can be done by getting a spark tester and removing one of the plug wires and putting the checker in line and try cranking to see if you can see the light flash, if you BMW is like my 95 and has coil over plugs this will have to be checked by leaving the wire connected on the coil and getting the boot out of the cylynder hole you can un plug the coil get it out and then reconnect the coil, if you have spark your next step would be to open up the oil cap and have someone crank it while you look in with a flash light if it is turning real slow but the engine is cranking fast you have a timing belt issue, if that seems ok go back to the fuel issue and disconnect one of the fuel lines at the intake and crank the engine if no fuel comes out it could be a bad fuel pump or clogged filter. try those things first and good luck. the fuel filter on that model is located by the fuel tank
near the passenger side rear tire, or they can be located in the engine compartment
