I am changing the transmission filter. I was given a screw on filter similar to a oil filter. But I think the car didn't have one to begin with, because I can't find where it goes.

1/5/2001 production date onward Hyundia eliminated the spin on external oil filter on the transmission on this transmission. If it is an internal filter "Boston 1" is correct it will only be replaced when transmission is being overhauled.
Hyundai as a car manufacturer put a lot of free technical information and workshop manuals on line for Hyundai owners. Check out www.hmaservice.com lots of great information.
Spin on filter would be right on top of trans!
