where is the starter located on a 1995 buick lesaber v6 on 1995 Buick LeSabre

my car won't turn over (new battery)i want to take the starter out and have it checked,but can't find it from the top. where is it? started fine at home went to the store,when i came out it wouldn't turn over,tryed to jump start it but that didn't work---95 buick lesaber

It's probably part of the starter itself. Look to see where the BIG positive wire from the battery goes. I'll bet it goes to a little cylinder that is part of the starter. This little cylinder is the relay and starter solenoid that engages the starter gear into the flexplate as it closes the relay to the starter to turn the engine over.

On the 93 it is located on the driver's side at the front of the engine. On the 93 it is partially hidden by the front cross-member of the engine cradle. I suspect it is in the same location on the 95. Remember the cable at the solenoid is hot (powered) so you need to disconnect the battery cables at the battery. I had trouble reinstalling mine but found a trick of wedging the starter in place against the engine block using a block of wood so I could then align the bolts using a screwdriver; I was not strong enough to hold the heavy starter in place and align the bolts and get them started. You don't want to cross thread the bolts.
