where is the location of the crank sensor on 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

and what tools do i need to remove it?

The crankshaft position sensor should be located just above the top of the oil pan, on the center rear of the engine on your 1996 Chevrolet Canalier. I most cases the crank sensor is held in place by a bolt with a 10mm head. Using a socket and socket wrench is usually all that is need to replace the sensor. Please have a look under your car to locate the sensor and see if thee is anything the way that would hinder its removal.

What if the sensor camshaft is rusted can you still get out and removal it fix it?.

on the automatic you will have to remove the oil pan from the bottom or the air cleaner assembly from the top to access the bolt and plug clip unless you have someone with really tiny hands The manual has plenty of space and does not require the removal of anything to access the sensor.
