The oil filter is located just in front of the oil pan. However, it does not look like a typical filter canister. The actual filter is housed inside a cast iron or aluminum canister attached to the enigine and hangs straight down. the bottom of the housing has a mettle cap that allows for a 3/8 inch socket wrench to be inserted. This cap is used to remove excess oil from the filter before actually removing the filter housing. Inorder to remove the filter housing you will need to use a special filter cap removal tool for Toyota and Lexus cars, which can be purchased from an auto parts store. Your new filter should include instructions on replacing the old filter. You can reach me at E2OJ@comcast.net for additonal information.
