The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) is low on the front of the engine by the crank pulley.

As Superbob said, on my 1999 Suburban 5.7L it was on the front of the engine, directly above the front anti-sway bar. It is easy to get to with an 8mm wrench for the nut that holds the bracket. Also, the crankshaft relearning procedure is probably not necessary.

William if it were needed to be reprogrammed will I know and I'm guessing only a shop would be able to reprogram it? I hoping by re-connecting to the battery would reset everything? thanks for all replies in advance. Dcookster

It takes an expensive scan tool to reprogram it, in my case it was not necessary. Also check distributor/rotor which can cause similar symptoms.
