Question: when turning on idle would race could see the rpm go up. could

drive but shut off at lights/slowing down, sometimes feels like it wanted to take off even when foot on brake. when it shut off, able to turn back on. engine light would come on
at times. began a few months ago, happening more frequently, and now the vehcile will not start.

Get check engine codes read and post results. I suspect this to be a fuel delivery issue or throttle problem. Need codes read to be sure.

thanks, funny, but i could smell gas lately when i would shut off. hope it isn't too expensive

Not a lack of fuel, but an overage such as a faulty fuel pressure regulator or a leak in the line.
