1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Question: When turning either right or left the front wheels seem to lock up.

There also is a crunching sound if we make a left turn then have to turn right shortly after. What is the most common fix for something like this?

    MY GUESS, 4x4 activated on dry pavement.

    our jeep only has 4x4 high or low there is no 2 wheel drive

    Then my guess was correct. Is it just when you turn real hard, full stop on wheel?

    this happens even when we do not turn the wheel all the way, happens at even a half turn

    seek diag and est as this could be as minor as adding limited slip fluid or as exp as needing a transfer case or an actuator
