The last few days when I put on the brakes the steering wheel starts shaking/vibrating. There isn't and hasn't been any squeaking when put on brakes but took it in and they said I need all my brakes changed cost over 800. I have never had bad brakes make my steering wheel shake/vibrate like that. Could it be something else if not is that the going rate for the work? Single mother that can't afford that.

Get the rotors turned. You must have overheated the brakes due to hard braking and warped the rotors.

I know I don't brake hard but I have a 17yr old that drives car as well so that is possible. Will have to have a talk with her about her driving. Do I need to get new brakes as well or can I just have rotors turned? When took it in they said need front and back brakes and new rotors as well. I know some places say need to do more when is a woman or a teenager girl. (I work nights, 12hr shifts, so daughter took it in).

Have the rotors measured to determine if they can be resurfaced. If so, it would be best to have it do with an on the car brake lathe. If the brake pads have plenty of thickness left on them, they would not need to be replaced.
