When I've been driving lately, when I make turns, a little red gas can indicator turns on, beeps, and flashes. I was wondering what could be the cause of this issue and how I could handle it? on 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio
That's not a gas can , its an OIL can
Check your oil level.
In the engine you have an oil pump
If the oil sucks up air instead of oil , the light will come on. This means the pump has lost pressure.
Just like when you turn a corner YOU feel like leaning to one side, When you turn a corner , the oil in the pan goes to one side. Because there is not enough oil in the pan it sucks air instead.
Open the hood over the engine
There is a stick coming out of the engine ( probably has a yellow handle on it)
Might say OIL right on it.
Pull it out , wipe it off with a napkin.
Put it back in for 2 seconds , pull it out .
The end of the stick will have a place indicate for safe level.
Add oil till the area on the end of the stick is covered .
From experience , if an oil light comes on from a low level at LEAST 1.5 to 2 quarts is needed
