You need to have the PCM scanned with a full enhanced scanner. You will not be able to retrieve these codes with a generic OBD2 code reader. Customer Concern: The Four Wheel Drive (4WD) is inoperative, Retrieved code P1867 from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Tests/Procedures: 1. Ford has had trouble with some 4WD shift motors when built between 4/1/2005 thru 4/6/2006. 2. Verify the 4X4 system is in 2H (2 wheel drive) position, then disconnect the transfer case shift motor connector (C350) and check resistance between Pins 1, 5, 9, 13, and signal return (Pin 10) on the shift motor assembly. 3. Pins 5, 9, and 13 should show continuity to Pin 10 (less than 5 ohms), and Pin 1 to Pin 10 should show as an open (greater than 10,000 ohms). 4. If any of the resistance readings are incorrect, replace the current transfer case shift motor. Tech Tips: PART NUMBER PART NAME 5L3Z-7G360-A Transfer Case Motor
