Yes it is the CV shaft and it is dangerous. It can cause you to get into and accident if it fails. Get it changed out soon a possible.

Have confirmed as to which one (if boots are torn on both , both may be recommended), and as stated have it taken care of ASAP.

subtle clicking noise while turning is okay...but loud clacking noise means there is heavy metal wear present and the joint may fail soon...
