Excessive steering play is most commonly attributed to worn tie rod ends. There is a posibility that the Steering gear itself is worn internally. have your wheels balanced and rotated to start with to see if that helps. Tires must be in good condition,(same brand), air pressure set to correct pressure on VECI label (Driver's door jamb). If you are going to replace the reat struts, replace them in pairs.
