It could be many things, unfortunately and without experiencing the problem first hand or being able to do some basic diagnostic tests its hard to say. Is the service engine soon/check engine light on? If so a scan tool is needed to retrieve codes stored. Could be so many things, could be engine loading up/running to rich/excess fuel (would probably see black smoke out tailpipe), could be the opposite could be too little fuel or vacuum leak but foolish to guess without being able to do basic tests.
