Question: Whats wrong with my truck?

Question

Visitor, 4.0L V6, Stuart, FL, September 23, 2010, 15:24

I turned the defrost on one morning and steam came out of vents. Turned defrost off. Later turned a/c on and steam came out of vents. The next day I was driving on I-95 and the truck just stopped. The check engine light came on. The temp gauge was reading normal and there was not smoke coming out of hood (engine). Although the radiator had a leak (we put stop leak in it). I always kept my eye on the water level, but some say it happened because of the radiator. A mechanic said it had a cracked head casket and he was going to put a sealant in it to correct it to see if this would help it....HELP

when steam comes out of vents it is usually a heater core concern.did you have it scanned for codes? this is an important first step in diagnosis.if you have a bad head gasket no sealant will work, you have to do it right and remove the head/s and have it inspected for cracks,warpage.4.0 v6 engines are also known for crank pulley/harmonic balancer failure causing it to rub the crank sensor and making the vehicle stall abruptly.
