what's the cost to replace timing belt at the 105,000 mi. mark on 2003 Subaru Outback

my Mechanic is telling me $800.00 to 1,000.00 but i've been searching websites and i'm seeing estimate no more than 500.00 to 600.00

Your mechanic is most likely quoting you a price for the timing componet kit with water pump and seals, just like he should, if you want it done right! The prices you see elsewhere are most likely for replamement of just the belt, BIG DIFFERENCE!! That's a very good price your mech. gave you for all that stuff i mentioned ,by the way! Most of the time you get what you pay for, even in Auto. repair.

Well, that is how i have always done this sort of repair so my customers (hopefully) don't have another problem in the same area of the engine! It's just good smart business for all concerned. Now if you were never coming back to do more business, well.......that's the BIG difference i mentioned. You are welcom.
