2003 Subaru Outback Question: what's the cost to replace timing belt at the 105,000 mi. mark
Answer #1pushrod August 15, 2013, 09:01Master
Your mechanic is most likely quoting you a price for the timing componet kit with water pump and seals, just like he should, if you want it done right! The prices you see elsewhere are most likely for replamement of just the belt, BIG DIFFERENCE!! That's a very good price your mech. gave you for all that stuff i mentioned ,by the way! Most of the time you get what you pay for, even in Auto. repair.

thanks a lot Pushrod! i appreciate it and for reenforcing my trust in my mechanic!

Well, that is how i have always done this sort of repair so my customers (hopefully) don't have another problem in the same area of the engine! It's just good smart business for all concerned. Now if you were never coming back to do more business, well.......that's the BIG difference i mentioned.
You are welcom.
