What's a reasonable cost for replacing ball joints for both wheels?

Masterthere are inner ball joints and outer ball joints; which do you need? outers are sold only as a complete control arm, $272 each and ALWAYS in pairs. would confirm this diagnosis before any work is done, especially if this was diagnosed by anyone other than a BMW specialist.
