Question: What would cause rough noisy idle, gas smell in oil and exhaust

Rookie

1998 Isuzu Amigo. Battery light is on as is check engine light. Hesitates a little when first giving it gas. Ran perfectly then sat for about a week. When I started it up, had these symptoms. Will bring to shop and get diagnostic codes tomorrow. Changed battery, spark plugs, oil and filter today. Not quite as noisy but, this is when I noticed the gas smell in oil.

When you removed the drain plug did the oil seem real thin like mixed with gas? Did it run out real fast?
Was the crankcase to full? Remember it is a gas engine! Some hint of gas is always there. Black smoke from exhaust?
If all of the above poss. fuel pressure regulator, but you should find out when you get it tested.

yes, it did run out fast and almost seem to have more oil than usual. Very thin, but did not notice black smoke. However, I did notice small amount of water coming from exhaust pipe. I had tried to take it in to get diagnostic codes last Saturday (didn't make it). When driving it, it was extremely loud, didn't want to shift gears and when I pushed in the clutch it sounded like the engine was reving up. Didn't have enough power to get up my driveway (hill). After replacing the battery it seemed a little stronger and was able to get it up hill. Hoping I won't have trouble getting it to autozone today.

You stated taking it to a shop not zone. The shop is where it needs to go!
