what tools are needed to replace the inner tie rods on a ford taurusses 2001

    Correct way is to remove the outer tie rod end and use correct long socket for the inner tie rod after removing boot but alot of shops will just crank far left and right to expose the inner tie rod socket area where it attaches at the rack and pinion and use large wrench to break loose and then unthread. Be careful when retension the new so do not damage the rack. A repair manual from parts store should have correct torque spec listed. Hopefully you marked where the outer tie rod was threaded to or counted turns when removed, put back at same point and realign.
