Question: what kind and color of coolant should i put?

Rookie

car indicates low on coolant and it says engine is overheating. What kind/color of coolant should i put? Is low on coolant is the reason why the engine is overheating?

Master

Your car should not lose coolant to the point where it is setting off warning messages. I would take your car to a shop and have them determine what is wrong before you blow/ruin your EXPENSIVE engine.
