 Rookie

Transmission went out on this truck earlier this year; rear engine seals; water pump. Is this excessive?

  All those things are legitimate repair items for a 10 yr old vehicle. You didn't say what the mileage or typical use is. Yearly cost is registration and taxes plus fuel, maintenance and repair.
  Anything can happen. Regular maintenance saves money.
