1997 Ford Escort Question: what is the most likely cause of cold start and running problem when the starts

after sitting over night or for long enough to cool down the engine is very hard to start and keep running till the engine warms up. to date the fuel pump and pressure regulator have been changed in an attempt to correct this with no effect

    It needs to be scanned so live data can be seen while the engine is cold! This is true for either one of the 2.0 engines you have. DOHC or SOHC.
