When should the timing belt be replaced, and is the engine design 'interference', valve to piston?

I found this for you. http://repairpal.com/timing-belt-replacement
It is a general mileage to change the timing belt. Your owners manual may have manufacturer recommendation or call the dealer. When in doubt go with manufacturer recommendation. They tested their product and know what it needs.

The 2.4L 4 Cylinder engine has a Timing Chain, there is not scheduled maintenance to replace it. The chain is supposed to last the life of the engine.
