Question
1998 ford explorer 4.0 sohc Woke up this am and went to start the car. turns over real quick but won't start. Checked for spark and it's there. Checked fuel pressure off the rail and fuel pressure and it is at 44 psi. Hooked up computer and all is ok except one O2 sensor is starting to go bad. Is it my fuel pressure? or coil pack going?
Answer #1
If you have spark, then your coil pack is OK. 44 psi is decent fuel pressure. Make sure that your cams are turning, by looking in the oil cap while some one turns over the engine, the fast turning engine makes me think that the timing chain may have stripped the sprockets.

Motor is turning over fast like normal. On this motor you cannot look into it because the oil fill tube is off to the side. (Cam is not visible) The spark appeared to be weak (was barely arcing)so I replaced the coil. Of course it made no difference! Still at a loss as to what is the matter. Any other ideas?
timing chain may have stripping the sprockets is an interesting thought. Is this motor a chain or belt?
