Chevrolet Q&AAsk Your Question
2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Question: what is causing my exhaust manifold to crack?
High heat would cause the manifold to crack. Is the vehicle running lean? Any DTC's? How's the vehicle run? How is fuel economy? Does the exhaust smell funny?

no to all questions and fuel economy is fair and i should add that it has never registered above normal temps on the guage

I got nothing else for you right now, sorry. Like pushrod mentioned, it could be low quality part or installation issue, but I don't know. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

Low quality part, incorrect torque/sequence or improper gasket is my guess. Crack at the same place each time? Is the rest of the exhaust system secured properly?
Replyjdv6565, January 14, 2014, 14:34Rookie
yes exact same place

Hum.... where did the replacement come from?
Replyjdv6565, January 14, 2014, 14:38Rookie
stoystown auto parts. a very large auto part business in our area. it was a "new" a/m part

I put 3 am's on my Corolla that did the same thing! Got a used one from salvage, no more problems! Now that was MY experience. Just saying.

I replaced my manifold on my 2008 Trailblazer at 71,000, got the part from O'Reilly's. Now a year later and 91,000 it's cracked again in the same place. What's the problem?
