Question: What is a reasonable estimate to replace the whole engine?

This will be third engine, there is smoke and we were told had to replace whole engine, there is antifreeze in it.

    You will probably find a shop that may install a junkyard engine (sounds like you've already gone that route) for 1500/2000 dollars. If you want a quality remanufactured engine with a warranty from a repuatble shop you could expect to pay 4/5/6000 dollars.
