P1700 is a transmission related code, do you feel the transmission has any shifting issues?
The overheating problem is important to figure out first so you don't damage the engine. You could have a bad thermostat, restricted/partially plugged radiator, a bad water pump impeller or worse a mildly blown head gasket, Safest to get it looked at an avoid potentially serious damage.
