2007 Chevrolet Aveo Question: What happens when the Aveo acts like it's in park in any gear it's in?

The car won't move out of park, just revs the engine, no matter what gear I put it in, the linkage is moving.

    Do you hear/feel the shifter engaging from gear to gear or does the linkage move smoothly? You could have an internal transmission problem with the shifter mechanism.

    either the shift linkage is disconnected or you have a transmission issue

    I AGREE WITH HERB, DO YOU FEEL ANY DETENT OR FEEL THE SHIFTER CLICK INTO EACH GEAR LIKE IT DID BEFORE?
    IF SO THEN POSS. TRANS. DAMAGE AS IN PUMP NOT TURNING. I GUESS THE FLUID IS AT THE CORRECT LEVEL?

    Hi thanks everyone, yes fuel levels are fine. It did go into reverse today???? Does anyone know an estimate of how much to replace pump, with labor, thanks again. lynn

    IF IT WENT INTO ANY GEAR THEN PUMP IS WORKING. YOU NEED TO GET IT LOOKED AT.

    IT NEEDS TO BE "LOOKED" AT TO ACTUALLY SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
