The PassKey system includes a starter relay and has the ability to command the PCM to disable the fuel injection system if the relay is bypassed in an attempt to start the car. If the BCM recieves an incorrect key code it will enter a tamper mode and lock everything out for three minutes. Communication between the PCM and the BCM is essential to get the car started.
