2001 Honda CR-V Question: What does P1456 check engine light code mean?

 Rookie

My check engine light is on, and I was told by PEPBOYS that the engine code was P1456. What does this mean, and how much, approximately will it cost me to fix the problem so that I don't have to keep staring at that 'Check engine' light???

    Hi, P1456 is a an OBD2 trouble code that is stored in the vehicle's computer. The definition of the code is "EVAP System Leak Detected". Your car's on-board computer has detected a fault in the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) system. In most cases, this code will not affect the way your vehicle drives. It is very difficult to approximate the cost to fix this problem without first performing a EVAP system diagnosis. On your part, you could check to see if the fuel/gas cap is loose. If it is loose, then that may be your problem.

    Besides gas cap , as already said , the most common faulty parts causing that code are the canister vent shut valve and the two-way by-pass valve. Also as previously stated proper diagnosis can be difficult without the proper info & equipment , and guessing can be a lot more expensive and nerve wracking.
