Question: What does it mean when your check engine light is Flashing?

I bought a used 96 Elantra, I have only had it for about a month. The air bag light was on and the check engine light is on. It runs good usually it needs 700 dollars in repairs right now, but then the engine light started flashing after i changed the radiator hose, is it because there was coolant everywhere from the leak?

    engine missfire. if you continue to drive with it flashing, add about 1000 for the converter you will destroy.

    Does changing the spark plugs help fix the missfire, or does it need to be manually fixed?
