Question: what does it mean when the TCS light comes on periodically.

when it comes on there is a scaping noise that occurs.

    That is the Traction Control System. It is your car trying to balance itself out. Do you hear the noise normally when you are slipping on snow or ice? If it happens all the time during normal driving conditions you should get it checked out... it may be malfunctioning.
