Question: what does it mean when my car won't crank and says engine power is reduced?

 Rookie

I went out to leave, my car cranked then went dead. now it just turns over but won't fire. It's giving me the message that "engine power is reduced."

    That lamp is a indicator of problems with Electronic Thottle Control. That does not usally cause a no start issue. You will need to have fault codes retrived to get better anwser to your problem. I suspect it could have a theft control system that could prevent car from starting. Check battery charge condition and retry after a 30min sit and it may start. Otherwise you may need to haved it towed to a shop for diagnosis.
