While driving the service engine light came on first, then when I came to a stop light they came on simutaneously, going on and off at the same time. I did not to long ago have my alternator replaced, which is what I noticed from looking on line most comments made state it might be going out.
What does it mean when both brake and battery light come on at the same time on 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

CK THE CHARGING SYSTEM AND THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL. IF BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS LOW YOU MAY NEED BRAKES OR POSS BRK FLUID LEAK

Guy I work with checked the fluid plenty there and looked clean, I am probably going to stop by auto zone to have it scanned

AS already stated check charging system AND battery. Don't buy parts without diagnosis. CODES are NOT a diagnosis , they are an indication of the system being affected by a fault. Wrong voltage readings (such as a battery with a bad cell , or a faulty alternator) will sometimes cause codes to set in error.

Very possible your alternator is on the way out. Also if you have leaking valve gasket that is dropping oil down on your alternator you should have it checked out! It has happened to me twice

Thanks for the feed back, it was too much to deal with so I traded in for something better.
