when starting my truck i hear a ticking sound not like a rod thrown sound? thought i needed a tune up cause truck was hesitating when stop at stop light like it wants to shut off

Rookie

sounds like you have a spark coil or a boot that's going bad, grounding out some how, make sure all the wires are connected to top of coils and give them a slight tung not to hard just a little as the conectios can break
