Not sure what engine type. It's a 2000 saturn sl1 4 cylinder. Transmission starting slamming into gears. Next day drove it to a shop to have it diagnosed. It was still slamming into gear, but then only one time did it not go into 4th gear or overdrive. I parked it for 2 days until I could get someone to look at it. The day I went to take it to friend's shop, I started car and let warm up. I went to put it into gear going from Park to Reverse and it wouldn't shift. I could move between gears, but it just stayed in neutral. I turned the car off and went to get out to call my friend,to tell him about it. When I stepped out I noticed that there was transmission fluid running out, everywhere, from under the car. We ended up looking underneath the hood and he had me start the car to see where it was leaking from. When I started the car it started spraying out from where the transmission filter was attached to transmission. Turned it off and replaced it with new filter and gasket in case old one was stopped up. We started the car up again and it started spraying fluid everywhere again. We made sure the filter was on tight, What could be causing pressure to be building up in side transmission like that? Could it be one of the solenoids have gone bad? Or, do I just need to buckle down and replace the whole transmission??? Going through separation right now so I'm trying to save money if possible without replacing the whole thing until absolutely necessary. Thanks!

    Hey Nate,
What I don't read in you post is what the two shops you took it to said? Did they perform any checks/tests on the transmission?
