My truck recently started leaking oil along with the oil light comes on and oil pressure gauge drops all the way down anytime I let off the gas. We've replaced the oil pump, oil pan gasket, and oil filter. While the truck now runs like a dream this of course has not fixed the problem (or I wouldn't be asking lol). I've been told a few things it could be and just wanted to get another opinion. I'd greatly appreciate any help. Debi

Did you replace the oil pressure switch (sending unit) ?... Have you used a pressure gauge to test the actual oil pressure??

That's our next project (sending unit). When it first started the pressure drop I had it checked and it showed no problem. That was before it started leaking as well. Now anytime I let off the gas, the pressure gauge drops and the leak gets worse...bad enough that there are trails of oil leading into every parking spot I use, at every red light I use regularly, and at every stop sign on my regular route to work. There was also a horrible burnt type smell when the old oil pump was removed...don't know if that will help with any ideas but it was a detail I forgot :)
