Signal light switch! Yes, signal light switch. Brake light circuit passes through this switch before it goes to the rear lights. Signals work fine but brake lights inop. Common problem! Alsoo called the multifunction switch.

The multi - purpose lever failed quite some time ago. It was placed with just a standard turn-signal lever. As you stated, turn signals work fine. Is this signal light switch enclosed within the steering column?

Yes, just behind the steering wheel. 93 may have just the turn signal switch there but is still the most likely suspect if brake light switch and fuses are ok! Since the signal lights work, the wiring and bulbs should be ok as well!
