Question: What causes a thunking noise when front wheel hubs are locked into 4WD?

noise occurs wether 4WD is engaged or not.
when hub is locked, noise happens with each wheel rotation.

    have the hubs checked for operation at the wheels. something is failing in the wheels and needs to be addressed.
