water pump replacement on 1991 Volkswagen Golf

last year i had my timing belt replaced do i need to have it replacd again or will it be ok to just replace the water pump.

water pump alone is ok,you should replaced it both last year so you don't have to go back to replace the water pump when its failing now

thanks for your advice.when the belt was replaced last year at that time the water pump was working fine so are you saying that both should have been replaced anyway thanks john
