Water may be drawn into the secondary air injection (AIR) pump causing the pump to fail and the Check Engine Light to illuminate. Our technicians tell us there is a kit available from General Motors to relocate the air intake for the pump which should prevent future damage from water intrusion.

Pump went out while driving during average rain storms shortly after purchasing vehicle with 17,000 mi. Dealer replaced under warranty. Went out again shortly after rain storms. Warranty expired, so replaced pump myself. Went out again, so i removed pump, connected hoses together, now ck. engine light comes on periodicly, will live with it for now. Better than buying another pump for nothing. GM is aware of the problem, so why not a recall?
